Design & exploration work starts at TAPI’s Afghan section

The design and exploration work related to construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline has started in the Afghan city of Kabul, reports the online newspaper Nebit-Gaz.

The solemn ceremony dedicated to the start of the design and exploration work was attended by Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, heads of ministries and departments of the TAPI participating countries, the TAPI Pipeline Company Limited and the ILF Beratende Ingenieure GmbH of Germany.

The work envisages studying the pipeline’s route as well as engineering and feasibility studies for the TAPI project.

The annual capacity of the pipeline will reach 33 billion cubic meters of gas.

SGC Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting inks declaration

Participants of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council’s Third Ministerial Meeting signed a joint declaration in Baku, the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry said in a message.

The declaration was signed by representatives of Azerbaijan, Albania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Croatia, Montenegro, the UK, the US, and European Commission Vice President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic.

According to the declaration, the participants of the Southern Gas Corridor project support the beginning of negotiations on additional gas supply to Europe via the corridor.

The participants will assess the further development of the project, including new connecting gas pipelines and additional markets, the document says.

The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the priority energy projects for the EU. It envisages the transportation of gas from the Caspian region to the European countries through Georgia and Turkey.
