Information and communication services worth 1,552.9 million manat were rendered for Azerbaijan's population and organizations in January-November 2017, which is by 5.9 percent more than in January-November 2016.
Some 81.1 percent of revenues received through the communication sector accounted for the non-state enterprises during the reporting period.
Some 72.6 percent of the total volume of information and communication services accounted for the services rendered to the population.
Moreover, 50.2 percent of revenues obtained from the entire telecommunications market accounted for the revenues of the mobile communication sector.
Mobile communication market
Some 779.7 million manat were obtained from the mobile communication services in Azerbaijan in January-November 2017.
The revenues increased by 4.2 percent in the mobile communication sector in January-November 2017 compared to January-November 2016.
In January-November 2017, over 772,000 IMEI codes of mobile devices were registered in Azerbaijan, which is by 30 percent more than in January-November 2016.
The number of registered IMEI codes of mobile devices decreased by almost 5 percent in November 2017 compared to October.
Over 77,300 mobile devices were registered in November 2017.
The total number of IMEI codes registered via e-government portal has exceeded 2.11 million after the system was launched in Azerbaijan May 1, 2013.
PC market
As of January-November 2017, the sale of notebooks and netbooks increased by 8.5 percent in Azerbaijan, the Global Stats statistical center said.
As of December 1, 2017, the market share of notebooks reached 58.1 percent in Azerbaijan, which is by 18.4 percent more than in the same period of 2016.
An 8.2 percent decrease in desktop computer sales was observed in the country as of January-November 2017.
The market share of desktop computers in Azerbaijan reached 39 percent as of late November 2017, which is by 17.5 percent less than in the same period of 2016.
The market share of tablet computers in Azerbaijan ranked third and reached 2.8 percent.
The market share of tablet computers decreased by 27.6 percent in Azerbaijan as of January-November 2017 and by 22 percent than in the same period of 2016.
Social networks
According to Global Stats center, Facebook users' activity decreased by 49.8 percent in January-November 2017, which is a record low figure for 2017.
As of December 1, 2017, Facebook's share in the Azerbaijani social media market amounted to 44.2 percent, which is by 40.5 percent less than in the same period of 2016. By popularity Facebook ranks first in the Azerbaijani social media market.
YouTube ranks second. YouTube users' activity increased by almost 52.7 times in January-November 2017.
As of December 1, 2017, YouTube's market share reached 27.4 percent, which is by 2.7 times more than in the same period of 2016.
By popularity Twitter social network ranks third. Twitter users' activity increased by over 2.4 times in January-November 2017. Twitter's market share was almost 8.54 percent.
Pinterest social network with a market share of 6.36 percent ranks fourth, followed by Instagram social network - 3.99 percent, V Kontakte - 5.88 percent, Tumblr - 0.98 percent and others.
Internet
Free Wi-Fi is available in buses # 61 owned by Xaliq Faiqoglu transport company.
Currently, Wi-Fi is available in buses # 18 and # 65. In the future, the service will be available in other buses.
Xaliq Faiqoglu company is engaged in passenger transportation in Baku. The company's transport fleet consists of over 300 buses running in Baku.
The company ensured non-cash payments in buses (#61, #65, #85, #79, #96, #18 and some others) and installed video surveillance cameras in accordance with the law enforcement bodies' appeal.
Domain zone
The number of websites registered in an .az domain zone increased by 18 percent by the end of 2017 and reached 28,986, according to WHOIS.az (domain name registration catalogue).
Thus, 27,104 websites of the total number of registered websites accounted for Internet resources registered in the top-level domain. This is by 18.6 percent more compared to early 2018.
The most popular second level domain is .com.az, where some 1,098 websites were registered (6.3 percent growth). The third most popular is the edu.az domain with 321 websites.
The number of websites registered in .edu.az increased by 31 percent in 2017.
e-signature
The number of electronic digital signatures (e-signatures) issued by the Azerbaijani National Certification Services Center in 2017 increased by 26.6 percent and reached 126,726 as of January 1, 2018, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies said in a message.
According to the message, 9,724 out of the total issued e-signatures accounted for the state organizations, 9,552 were issued to legal entities, and 7,412 to individuals.
In 2016, 23,040 e-signatures were issued, while in 2017 the number was 26,688.
E-signature simplifies the access of citizens to electronic services of state institutions that are available on the Electronic Government Portal (www.e-imza.az).
Currently, for Azerbaijani citizens the cost of e-signatures issued for three years is 18 manat. Moreover, individuals and legal entities engaged in entrepreneurial activities can get e-signatures for 36 manat and 72 manat, respectively, while employees of state institutions can get them for 58 manat.
