A working group for implementation of a monitoring of import consumer goods prices was established last week under the presidential decree on �Strengthening of anti-inflation measures’, dated 31 May 2005.
The group includes representatives from the Ministry of Economic Development, the taxes Ministry and the State Statistics Committee.
The process of monitoring of wholesale and retail goods prices has started. In compliance with Article 3.4 of the decree. results of monitoring will be publicized in media in every three months.
The working group continues the work over application of methods on ensuring exactness of results of monitoring, increase of the quality of collected data, as well as right selection of facilities and estimation of initial data.
The analysis of reasons causing inflation in the country, held both by the governmental and independent experts, reveal great role on non-monetary factors in intensification of growth pace of prices.
The most influential factor was the existence of monopoly in production, trade and import-export operations. No fact on co considerable difference between the prime prices of consumer goods and their final prices.
The working group targets removal of undesirable moments. The motoring of prices in the countries is implemented by the State Statistics Committee only for calculation of inflation, while it is interested in formation of prices of goods.
Obviously, being aware of existence of such monitoring of absolutely different quality members of the consumer market should set fair prices, even if they are monopolist. In the contrary, data on their anti-consumer activities will presented to definite bodies.
