Iran has launched a new television channel in an attempt to introduce the traditions and cultural diversity of the country's different regions and communities, PRESS TV reported.

Shoma TV channel was launched during a ceremony attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Ezzatollah Zarghami and a number of other IRIB officials.

The new national channel will broadcast a selection of provincial productions in regional dialects and with Persian subtitles.

The project aims to introduce religious rituals, traditions and the rich Iranian culture of different regions, promote spirituality, increase the general knowledge of the public and strengthen the bond between different regional communities.

Shoma programs will try to strengthen national convergence and unity by presenting cultural, economical and social potentials and capabilities of different Iranian provinces.
