Algeria and Cuba on Sunday called on all concerned parties in Libya to end clashes and launch peace talks as soon as possible, Xinhua reported.

In a joint news conference here with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Algeria Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci said they hoped the "fighting in Libya would end and dialogues would be launched soon."

"Cuba has earlier condemned foreign intervention in Libya," said Parrilla, who is on a three-day visit to Algeria, adding his country is "concerned about the killing of innocent civilians there."

Meanwhile, the African Union (AU) on Sunday called for a comprehensive peace dialogue of all concerned parties in Libya.

The AU higher committee on the Libyan issue said in a statement at the end of its meeting in Mauritania that "disputing parties in Libya should cease fire immediately, and launch comprehensive peace dialogue that guarantees Libyan people's aspirations to democracy, political reforms, justice, peace, security and social development."
