Chinese Vice FM says Google case should not be linked with China-U.S. ties

The Google case should not be "over interpreted" or be linked with the Sino-U.S. relations, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei said here Thursday, Xinhua reported.

"The Google case should not be linked with relations between the two governments and countries; otherwise, it's an over-interpretation," said He at a press conference.

If foreign companies including Google encounter difficulties in China, they should seek solution in accordance with the Chinese laws. The Chinese government is willing to help them solve relevant problems, he said.

He's remarks came just nine days after Google said it might quit China, citing disagreements with government policies and unidentified attacks targeting its services in China.

The official said many countries have Internet supervision in place as it concerns national security, and "China is no exception."

"If foreign companies have different viewpoints with this regard, they should also seek solutions according to laws," said He.
