Pursuant to Chief of Armenia's police Vladimir Gasparyan's order, a situation room staff has been formed to monitor the election process, Tert.am reported.

At a discussion organized by the OSCE office in Yerevan and the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparyan said: "The police pledge to consistently deal with any violations in the election day. I am personally responsible for revealing and preventing any violations. All the police officers are personally responsible as well." He calls for informing the police of any violations.

"We must combine efforts to ensure free and fair elections," General Gasparyan said.

Chief of the RA Police Staff Vardan Yeghiazaryan noted that the principal function of Armenia's police is to promptly respond to violations. The situation room staff will work round-the-clock, May 5 to 7.
