The Armenian Central Electoral Commission has registered five international and three local organizations, willing to monitor the presidential elections in the country, ArmenianReport reported.
The presidential elections in Armenia are scheduled for Feb.18, 2013.
According to the official website of the CEC, the registered companies are the International Expert Centre for Electoral Systems (ICES), OSCE / ODIHR, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), and the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly and the CIS Observation Mission.
Three local organisations - Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office (63 observers), NGO Democratic and Electoral Processes (two observers) and the Armenian Centre for Democratic Education-Civitas (77 observers).
Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former prime minister and leader of the Freedom Party Grant Bagratyan, ex-Foreign Minister and chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andreas Ghukasyan Vardan Setrakian and the leader of the National Accord Aram Harutyunyan.
