Georgian Labourites Urge for Establishment of International Commission for Election of Georgian President

Georgia, Tbilisi, 24 January / Тrend corr N. Kirtskhalia / Georgian Labourites protest against the conclusion made by the Council of Europe (CE) with respect to the presidential elections which took place in Georgia on 5 January, the Foreign Policy Secretary of the Labour Party Nestan Kirtadze said at a special briefing on 24 January.

"We urge to change the results of the elections and to announce them and the impostor President Mikhail Saakashvili illegal," she said.

Kirtadze stressed that Saakashvili's election was not the will of the people and the results of the elections were seriously faked. The Labourits urge to establish an international commission to study the elections.

An official letter will be submitted to the Council of Europe's Representative in Georgia on 24 January. Labourites urge to inform PACE of the content of the letter today.

"We will be waiting for an official reply from the CE Secretary General Terry Davis," Kirtadze said.
