Russian and Georgian Ambassadors Advice Tbilisi to Support Russia to lift Ban from Abkhazia
Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / Georgian and Russian Ambassadors advice Tbilisi to support Russia and lift ban from Abkhazia in order to improve the dialogue between Georgia and Abkhazia. According to Vacheslav Kovalenko, Russian Ambassador in Georgia stated that the Russian decision to leave CIS sanction against Abkhazia is directed to remove the negotiation process from the deadlock.
Recently, Russia announced about lifting of ban from Abkhazia. Today, Russian Ambassador was invited to the Foreign Ministry of Georgia; a note which approves the Ministry's statement was submitted to Ambassador.
"We held the meeting with Giey Vashadze on this issue. We noticed that the situation has changed as compared to 1996. There would have been more effective and positive results if Georgia would have supported Russia at that time," Kovalenko said.
