Georgia, Tbilisi, 11 August / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / On 11 August, the Russian peacekeepers quartered in the conflict zone issued an ultimatum to Georgia. They demanded for disarmament of Georgia's all armed formations in the 12km security strip in Zugdidi region by 10.00am, Temur Yakobashvili, the Georgian State Minister for Reintegration, said at a briefing in Tbilisi.

"Sergey Chaban, the commander of peacekeepers, threatens to disarm our police by force should we do not implement their demand. He is an undesirable person in Georgia," he said.

"We do not have armed formations there and disarmament of the police is not envisaged in Russia's mandate," Yakobashvili said.

"We are holding fights at many fronts and one of them is of diplomatic character. The more Russia continues implementing such stupid actions, the more support we will receive from abroad," Yakobashvili said.
