Georgia Materials 15 August 2008 17:47 (UTC +04:00)

Georgia, Tbilisi, 15 August / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia/ The United States will not leave alone the young Georgian democracy, U.S. President George Bush said at a briefing in Washington on 15 August. "The country wants to be free and it has right for that," he said.

The U.S. President urged Russia to withdraw its troops from Georgia and to completely fulfil the undertaken obligations. "Unfortunately, Russia took Georgia's wish to be a democratic and free country as a threat," Bush said.

" Moscow dramatically damaged its image. Obstinacy is not the feature to be demonstrated in such circumstances," he said, adding that " Russia must begin returning its position in the international community".
