Georgia, Tbilisi, Nov.23 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri will visit Brussels in December to sign an agreement to start negotiations with the EU on free trade, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said on Tuesday at a government session in Kutaisi.

"This decision has been already made and we now start concrete negotiations on this issue," he said, stressing that the decision was coordinated with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, who visited Tbilisi last week.

He said that talks on visa-free regime with the EU will begin in March 2012.

"And then our citizens can freely travel in Europe, which was the dream of our ancestors," Mr Saakashvili said. He said Georgia should also join NATO to protect itself.
