Georgian Deputy Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze is on a working visit to Slovakia. He is taking part in a conference on global security upon the Slovak Atlantic Commission's invitation. This event represents one of important forums before NATO summit planned to be held in Chicago.

Baramidze spoke at a conference session where the U.S. security in the Asia-Pacific region was discussed. In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister spoke about the importance of peaceful and diplomatic settlement of the unresolved conflicts in Europe and in the territory of its eastern neighbors. He paid attention to the need for peaceful settlement of Georgian-Russian conflict. He stressed the important aspects of the strategic partnership development between the U.S. and Georgia.

During the visit, Baramidze met with Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister Zsolt Nemeth and held a special press conference for representatives of international and local media outlets. It was broadcast live on local television TA3. Deputy Prime Minister spoke about the process of European integration of Georgia and the positive impact of this process in Eastern Europe. Media representatives showed great interest in the reforms implemented in Georgia and the prospects for peaceful settlement of the Georgian-Russian conflict.
