Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili pardoned 200 convicts at Orthodox Easter.

"All of them will leave the place of detention today and be able to celebrate Easter at home," the Minister of Corrections, Probation and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze said on Saturday at a briefing.

Pardon Commission under the President of Georgia recommended to pardon 170 convicts, and to reduce the time of detention in half for another 30.

There were women among those who were pardoned, but it was refused to pardon minors, as they were convicted of serious crimes.
