Progress in Georgia and the EU's dialogue on liberalising the visa regime was discussed at a meeting of an interdepartmental working group in Brussels.

As the Georgian Foreign Ministry said, their side was represented by head of the interdepartmental group, Deputy Foreign Minister Tornike Gordadze.

He met with the head of the European Commission Directorate General for Home Affairs, Stefano Manservisi and Secretary General of the European External Action Service, Pierre Vimont.

The sides discussed the plan and coordination of Georgia's actions within a liberalised visa regime.

EU experts will be sent to Georgia in order to develop a national plan in mid-September. The Georgian side has received guidance on this matter.

During the meeting with Vimont Gordadze there were discussions on the prospects of negotiations on associate membership of the EU, including comprehensive free trade, as well as the situation in Georgia, the upcoming parliamentary elections and security issues.
