Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania introduced the new deputy chief of the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces on Tuesday.

Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania introduced the new deputy chief of the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces on Tuesday.

Colonel Vladimir Chachibaya held this post.

According to Alasania, Chachibaya served in the Georgian army and has an excellent education.

"I am pleased that such experts come back and henceforth, Chachibaya will coordinate and oversee military education sector in Georgian Armed Forces," he said.

Chachibaya graduated from the Military Academy, passed preparation courses in the the U.S Officers School, U.S. Army War College and U.S. Command and General Staff School.

At various times, he held senior positions in the Georgian peacekeeping contingent in Iraq and the Army Staff. In addition, Chachibaya served as deputy chief of the General Staff. From November 2008 to March 2009, he headed Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces.
