Georgia's foreign trade turnover with the European Union countries amounted to $2.780 million in 2012, or 12 percent more than in previous year, the Georgian Statistics Service told Trend.

Georgia's foreign trade turnover with the European Union countries amounted to $2.780 million in 2012, or 12 percent more than previous year, the Georgian Statistics Service told Trend.

Exports totaled $252 million (a 17-percent increase), imports - $2.427 million (a 18-percent increase).

In general, share of the EU countries in Georgia's trade turnover hit 27 percent, including in exports - 15, and in imports - 31 percent. In 2011, this figure was respectively 27, 19 and 29 percent.

The EU countries accounted for 28 percent of the trade deficit (33 percent in 2011).
