Irakli Alasania visited defense industry exhibition in Turkey

Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania is on an official visit to Turkey.

According to Turkish Defence ministry, in Istanbul, he visited the 11th international exhibition of military industry "IDEF 2013". He acquainted with military goods land, air transport and logistics destination and weapons produced more than 800 companies from 49 countries.

Exhibition under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence of Turkey is held every two years. 335 high-ranking military and civilian officials from 66 countries, including 27 ministers of defense and two chiefs of general staffs joined the event. This is a significant event is an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and make contacts. The international exhibition is also an important platform for the development of regional cooperation and the development of the military industry.

As part of the international exhibition Alasania met with a delegation from Sri Lanka and Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz. The sides discussed prospects of development of Georgian-Turkish cooperation in the military sphere, and plans for the future. Georgian-Turkish military cooperation covers a wide range, including military training, logistics, etc. At the meeting also dealt with the participation in international missions and Georgia's integration into NATO. During the visit, Alasania also met with the Rector of the Military Academy of Turkey, Lieutenant General Rauf Akbash and discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of education.
