Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has intended to combine the post of Chairman and the General Secretary of the party United National Movement.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday at the presidential palace Saakashvili said, that he does not think the General Secretary of the party, the former prime minister Vano Merabishvili, who was arrested today will sit in prison for a long time.
"I think that there is no need to change the General Secretary, as in a few days he would be released," he said.
President stressed that if Merabishvili will be in prison for a long time, then the problems waiting to Georgia.
"This is a problem of international isolation," he said.
Saakashvili said that after being elected president in 2004, he visited for 3-4 months many countries, from the United States to Russia.
