The U.S. State Department condemns the actions of Russian troops in the conflict zone in Georgia.

The European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia has verified that fences and barbed wire are being installed along the administrative boundary line for the South Ossetia region of Georgia, spokesperson for the United States Department of State Jennifer Rene Psaki told the reporter of Georgian Rustavi2 TV channel at a briefing on Friday.

"We share Georgia's concern that these fences are contrary to international law and the 2008 ceasefire agreement with Russia," Psaki said.

She also said that she does not have information on those arrested and noted that the United States remain committed to supporting Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders

Large scale military actions were launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.

Russia recognised the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi broke diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognised republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
