The president of Georgia is ready to dismiss the attorney general, if he receives such a solicitation from the Prime Minister. This was stated by the president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili on Tuesday at a joint briefing with the European Commissioner Stefan Fule.
According to the president, the attorney general Archil Kbilashvili during a briefing on Tuesday confirmed that a year before the parliamentary elections the then opposition was possessing the scandalous videos of torture in prisons, and these videos were used only in the pre-election period, which determined the victory of the Georgian Dream party.
"These videos were sold to a rich man (PM Bidzina Ivanishvili), who used them wisely, that ensured the victory of the coalition in the elections," the president said, noting that "all gradually begins to come to light."
Saakashvili also noted that, according to the Minister of Internal Affairs Irakli Gharibashvili, it is impossible to investigate the death of 10 month-old girl Barbara Rafalyants.
"Our candidate was accused in the death of this girl, although there were not any facts, and this version is now collapsed. So, now it is perfectly clear that the accusations were a part of a well-planned pre-election campaign," Saakashvili said.
Saakashvili noted that he will dismiss Kbilashvili in case if there will be an appeal from the Prime Minister. "Let him tell what dirty methods they were using in fight against us," the Georgian president said.
