Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili demands the resignation of Georgian chief prosecutor Archil Kbilashvili. Before flying to Chisinau, Mikheil Saakashvili told reporters that Kbilashvili violated the European Convention and dismissed Vladimir Bedukadze from criminal responsibility for authoring a violent prison abuse video.
"This person was involved in the violence and filmed everything in order to sell it and give it to the opposition," he said. "I know who bought the footage and why it was hidden during the year and delivered to TV networks before the elections."
Saakashvili said that Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili must submit a petition for chief prosecutor's resignation to him and he will sign it.
"Otherwise, all of the Prime Minister's statements in which he condemns Kbilashvili's decision will remain demagogy; I am waiting for the resignation of the chief prosecutor," he said.
The Georgian Chief Prosecutor previously made a decision to release the author of a scandalous video of torture and abuse in Georgian prisons Vladimir Bedukadze from criminal responsibility.
