Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili thanked Western partners for their strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. Ivanishvili made this statement at the international conference in Batumi today.

According to him, the Georgian government appreciates the EU's special role in support of the territorial integrity and security of the country.

"One of the most important challenges of the European integration process in Eastern Europe is to ensure stability and security in the region," he said. "Unfortunately, there are still many unresolved conflicts in the EU's Eastern Neighbourhood.

"It is known that Georgia's problem is acute. The EU along with the U.S. and the OSCE is a co-chair of the Geneva talks. It carries out an observation mission in Georgia. The EU sent its special representative to look at the country's crisis issues. Moreover, the EU actively supports the so-called non-recognition policy. I hope it will be more actively involved in this process in the future."
