The Georgian Labour Party has officially presented 31,000 signatures (27 350 were required) to Georgia's Central Election Commission (CEC) in support of party's presidential candidate Shalva Natelashvili.

"Today we have introduced tens of thousands of signatures to the CEC in support of Shalva Natelashvili, what allows the CEC to officially register him as a presidential candidate," one of the party's leaders Giorgi Gugava said.

He also introduced a new initiative regarding the appointment of the Chairman of Georgia's CEC.

According to Gugava, the CEC should be staffed by the representatives of those parties, which are financed from the budget.

"Each member of the CEC in alphabetical order should serve as a chairman within a week," Gugava said.

Presidential elections in Georgia will be held on October 27, and registration will be completed on September 17.
