Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili has confirmed the reports about shutting down the Channel 9, which belongs to his wife.

According to Ivanishvili's statement released on Monday, he no longer wishes to own a television company, so that future presidential elections will be carried out correctly.

At the same time, the Prime Minister said that he had never interfered in channel's policies.

Ivanishvili noted that he has been for a long time trying to sell the Channel 9 below market price, but has not found a buyer.

The statement says that, before September 1, anyone can buy the television company with all its equipment and buildings, at a third of its value, in case if all the journalists retain their job places, otherwise the channel and Info 9 news agency will be closed from September 1.

Ivanishvili thanked all employees of the channel, who helped his coalition to win in parliamentary election, held on October 1.

Georgian Prime Minister underscored that he will pay all employees' benefits two months before, despite the fact that this is not provided in the legislation.
