A part of Georgian non-parliamentary opposition has nominated the candidacy of the country's former MP, Dmitry Lortkipanidze for the post of Tbilisi mayor.

Four oppositional parties, namely, the Democratic Movement, headed by Nino Burjanadze, Christian-Democratic Movement, headed by Levan Vephvadze, Kartuli Dasi, led by Jondi Baghaturia and Left Alliance (former labourists) plan to jointly participate in the future parliamentary elections.

"If we properly respond to the expectations on establishing the oppositional coalition, then we believe, there will be a serious chance, " the abovementioned parties said in their statement.

"We will fight to win and will do everything for that the elections would reflect the real mood of the population," Nino Burjanadze, the head of the Democratic Movement party said.

The negotiations on the establishment of a united opposition front have been underway for a long time, according to Burjanadze.
