Tbilisi Mayor David Narmania met with the mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit Oct. 1.
Narmania stressed Wowereit's merits in the development of Berlin and expressed a desire to take into account Berlin's experience in municipal management, Tbilisi City Hall told Trend.
After the signing of the association agreement with the EU, the introduction of European standards in urban planning, development of infrastructure, public transport, waste management and energy efficiency is important.
"Tbilisi's government begins working on new standards of municipal infrastructure and intends to use the experience of the EU countries," Narmania said.
The mayors also agreed that the German side will assist Tbilisi in all major areas, which envisage the improvement of the municipal services.
Germany's experience will be taken into account in urban planning. Tbilisi's mayor reviewed the German project - the concept of the city of the future. Its main aspects may be of interest for the future development of Tbilisi.
The cooperation between the two cities in the sphere of culture was also stressed. Special attention was paid to the protection of cultural heritage.
