The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe approved the resolution on the municipal elections in Georgia held on June 15.
The resolution was approved with 61 votes for and one vote against.
The resolution says the Congress welcomes the fact that despite the tense pre-election environment, overall, the elections were held in a calm atmosphere. The congress expressed satisfaction with the fact that the election environment has improved in the country compared to the previous elections.
It also praises Georgia's efforts to prevent falsification in the election process with the help of a new voter identification system.
