Due to intense snow and frost, special restrictions have been imposed on roads throughout Georgia, Trend reports referring to Agenda.ge.
The Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi motorway is closed to all traffic. There is a risk of avalanche, the Roads Department said.
Many trailers and cars heading towards the Russian Federation are stuck on the road because of the restrictions.
Specialists of the National Environmental Agency expect that the intense snowfall will last for at least three days.
Moreover, restrictions have been imposed for trailers, semi-trailers and buses on the Phonichala-Marneuli-Geguti and Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda motorways near the Armenian border, as well as Akhalkalaki-Kartsakhi motorway near the border of Turkey.
As a result of intense snow and wind, the Goderdzi pass in Adjara is closed to all traffic.
