Georgia updates GDP forecast

Georgian government forecasts country’s GDP to grow from 7.7 percent to 9.5 percent in 2021, in accordance with the draft budget for 2022, Trend reports, citing Georgian media.

According to the forecasts, real GDP growth is expected to reach 6 percent by 2022, and an average of 5.5 percent in the upcoming years. The GDP deflator forecast is projected at 4.5 percent in 2022 and at 3 percent in the subsequent years.

"Based on macroeconomic indicators, the nominal GDP will reach 64.7 billion Georgian lari ($20.6 billion) in 2022, and to 82.6 billion Georgian lari ($26.3 billion) by 2025 as projected," said in the explanatory note.

Although the inflation rate will rise to 8.9 percent by 2021, the government expects the overall price level to decline in the medium term and remain at the target of 3 percent in 2022-2025.
