Azerbaijan becomes largest diesel supplier to Georgia

Azerbaijan was the largest supplier of diesel fuel to Georgia from January through September 2021, importing 168,500 tons, which is an increase of 5.7 percent, compared to 159,300 tons over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the Union of Oil Products Importers of Georgia.

Georgia's total diesel fuel imports from January through September 2021 decreased by 2.5 percent, or 10,300 tons, to 409,100 tons, compared to the same period of 2020.

According to the Union of Oil Products Importers, Azerbaijani share in total Georgian diesel fuel imports over first 9 months of 2021 accounted for 41.2 percent, compared to 19.7 percent from January through September 2020.

Thus, Azerbaijan, with diesel fuel exports alone (excluding gasoline), becomes the second largest supplier of fuel to Georgia, after Turkmenistan, from January through September 2021.

Meanwhile, Georgian imports of gasoline and diesel fuel from January through September 2021 amounted to 854,500 tons, which is an increase of 5.8 percent, compared to 807.500 tons of diesel fuel over the reporting period of 2020.
