Georgia sharply increases oil imports from Azerbaijan

Georgia’s imports of oil from Azerbaijan from January through October 2021 amounted to 204,177 tons worth $113.1 million, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume imported in the reporting period of 2021 increased by 22.1 percent, compared to 167,129 tons over the same period of 2020.

The value of Georgia’s oil imports from Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2021 increased by 122.2 percent, compared to first 10 months of 2020 ($50.9 million).

Thus, Azerbaijan ranks second among top exporters of oil to Georgia in the reporting period of 2021, following Turkmenistan with $152.9 million worth of exports (250,310 tons).

Total Georgia’s imports of oil from January through October 2021 amounted to 1.04 billion tons worth $651.8 million, the report said.
