Georgia’s hazelnuts export up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 23

Georgia has exported up to 13,800 tons of hazelnuts worth $63.1 million from August 1 through November 21, 2021, Trend reports, referring to the Facebook publication of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.

The volume of exported hazelnuts during the reporting period of 2021 increased by 34 percent (3,600 tons), compared to the same period of 2020, while the value of exports increased by 12 percent ($6.8 million).

According to the ministry, Georgian hazelnuts are mainly exported to European countries, as well as to neighboring countries.

TOP 10 importers of Georgian hazelnuts:

Italy – 5,808 tons;

Germany – 2,420 tons;

Armenia – 828 tons;

China – 755 tons;

Spain – 424 tons;

Czech Republic – 401 tons;

Poland – 337 tons;

Russia – 274 tons;

Lithuania – 262 tons;

Ukraine – 256 tons.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s export of hazelnuts to Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2021 amounted to 82 tons.

According to the ministry, the hazelnut harvest in 2021 is of high quality due to active and purposeful work on pest extermination. It is planned to collect about 65,000-70,000 tons the export potential of which is $150 million.
