Georgia records significant decrease in apple exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 23

The export volume of Georgia’s apples from September 1 through November 21, 2021, amounted to 2,780 tons, which is a decrease of 44 percent, compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports via Facebook publication of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

According to the report, the export value of Georgia’s apples over the reporting period of 2021 also decreased by 16 percent, compared to the same period of 2020, and totaled $1.8 million.

The export price of Georgian apples during the reporting period of 2021 increased by 49 percent amid a decline in apple exports, the ministry said.

The largest volume of Georgia’s apple export accounted for Russia (2,775 tons), while the remaining 5 tons of apples were exported to Armenia.
