Georgia’s spice exports to Central Asia down

Georgia’s export of spices to Central Asia from January through October 2021 amounted to $364,940, which is a decrease of 32 percent, compared to $536,710 worth of exports over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Georgia’s exports of spices to Kazakhstan in the reporting period of 2021 decreased by 47.1 percent, compared to $277,130 worth of spices over the same period of 2020, and amounted to $146,380.

The volume of Georgia’s spices export to Kazakhstan has also decreased by 35.5 percent, compared to 166,160 tons of spices over the first 10 months of 2020, to 107,030 tons.

Uzbekistan has also decreased its import of spices from Georgia in the reporting period of 2021 by 37.4 percent – from $222,080 to $139,010.

The volume of Georgia’s spices export to Uzbekistan from January through October 2021 decreased by 26.1 percent, compared to 297,550 tons over the same period of 2020, and totaled 219,700 tons of spices.

The remaining amount of Georgia’s spices over the first 10 months of 2021 were exported to Turkmenistan ($38,900), Tajikistan ($25,800), and Kyrgyzstan ($14,850).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total export of spices from January through October 2021slightly increased, compared to $8.8 million over the same period of 2020, and amounted to $8.9 million.
