Georgia sees increase in money inflow in 2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 17

The volume of remittances inflow to Georgia from January through December 2021 amounted to $2.3 billion, compared to $2.1 billion over 2020, Trend reports via statistical data of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

The remittances in Georgia in December 2021 amounted to $229.4 million, which is 10.6 percent more than in November 2021 ($207.3 million), and 14.9 percent more than over the same period of 2020 ($199.6 million).

TOP-10 countries with the largest amount of transferred money into Georgia in December 2021:

Russia – $39.7 million;

Italy – $37.8 million;

the US – $26.6 million;

Greece – $20.4 million;

Israel – $17.6 million;

Kazakhstan – $13.3 million;

Germany – $11.5 million;

Turkey – $8.1 million;

Ukraine – $7.8 million;

Azerbaijan – $6.7 million.

Meanwhile, money transfers from Georgia from January through December 2021 amounted to $316.7 million, which is an increase of 24.1 percent compared to $255.1 million over 2020.
