Georgia’s coal and coal products import value in 2021 amounted to $9 million, which is a decrease of 40.3 percent, compared to $15.1 million over 2020, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).
The volume of the imported coal and coal products over the reporting period also decreased by 47.8 percent – from 197,370 tons to 102,924 tons.
Meanwhile, Russia ranked first among main coal and coal products exporters to Georgia in 2021. However, the exports decreased by 47.8 percent, compared to $14.2 million over 2020, and amounted to $7.4 million.
Kazakhstan is second on the list with $752,420 worth of coal and coal products exports to Georgia. The amount increased by 195.5 percent, compared to $254,580 in 2020.
Turkey ranked third among the top main coal and coal products exporters to Georgia with $653,020 worth of exports – an increase of 10.8 percent, compared to 2020 ($588,990).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports in 2021 amounted to $10 billion – an increase of 25.1 percent, compared to $8 billion over 2020.
