Azerbaijan - Georgia trade turnover up in Jan. 2022

Georgia’s total trade turnover with Azerbaijan in January 2022 amounted to $121.9 million – an 11-percent share in the total foreign trade turnover, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The current figure increased by 41.5 percent, compared to $86.1 million over January 2021, and 16.8 percent, compared to the same month of 2020 ($104.3 million). Azerbaijan’s share in Georgia’s total trade turnover in the reporting period of 2021 accounted for 11.3 percent, and 11.6 percent - in January 2020.

According to Geostat, Azerbaijan ranked 3 among Georgian main trading partners in January 2022, following after Turkey ($168.7 million), and Russia ($128.6 million).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s imports from Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2022 amounted to $75.1 million, which is an increase of 45.9 percent, compared to $51.5 million over the same period of 2021. Thus, Azerbaijan ranked 3 among Georgia’s top trading partners by imports in January 2022, Geostat said.

Georgian exports to Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2022 totaled $46.8 million, which is an increase of 36 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($34.4 million). Azerbaijan ranked 2 among Georgia’s main export partners in January 2022, the report said.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s foreign trade turnover (excluding non-declared trade) in January 2022 increased by 41.1 percent, compared to $786.2 million over the same period of 2021, and by 20.4 percent, compared to January 2020 ($913.3 million) and amounted to $1.1 billion.
