The amount of net loans issued by Georgia’s commercial banks in January 2022 totaled 40.2 billion Georgian lari ($12.5 billion), Trend reports via statistical data of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
According to the NBG, the current figure decreased by 1.9 percent, compared to 41 billion Georgian lari ($12.8 billion) of loans issued in December 2021.
However, the amount of net loans issued by Georgia’s commercial banks in January 2022 increased by 12.6 percent, compared to 35.7 billion Georgian lari ($11.1 billion) over the same period of 2021.
Meanwhile, the volume of loans to the non-financial sector and households issued by Georgia’s commercial banks in January 2022 increased by 10.4 percent, compared to 38.1 billion Georgian lari ($11.9 billion) over the same period of 2021, and decreased by 2 percent, compared to 43 billion Georgian lari ($13.4 billion) in December 2021, and totaled 42.1 billion Georgian lari ($13.1 billion).
Loan loss reserves of Georgia’s commercial banks in the reporting period of 2022 decreased by 5 percent, compared to 2 billion Georgian lari ($625 million) in December 2021, and by 20.8 percent, compared to 2.4 billion Georgian lari ($750 million) in January 2021, and totaled 1.9 billion Georgian lari ($593 million), the NBG said.
