Georgia names main goods exported to Russia

Georgia’s exports to Russia in January 2022 amounted to $42.6 million, which is an increase of 88 percent, compared to $22.6 million over the same period of 2021, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Russia ranked third among main Georgia’s partners by exports in the reporting period of 2022 with 12.9-percent share in the total exports. Bulgaria ranked first on the list ($49.6 million), followed by Azerbaijan ($46.7 million).

Meanwhile, ferroalloys ranked first among top commodities exported to Russia. The amount of Georgia’s ferroalloys exports to Russia in January 2022 totaled $13.2 million, which is an increase of 500 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($2.2 million).

Georgia’s wine ranked second among main goods exported to Russia in the reporting period of 2022. The exports increased by 55.3 percent, compared to $5.6 million worth of wine in January 2021, to $8.7 million.

Mineral water is third on the list. Georgia’s mineral water exports to Russia in January 2022 amounted to $4.7 million - an increase of 27 percent, compared to the same month of 2021 ($3.7 million).

The trade turnover between Georgia and Russia in January 2022 totaled $128.6 million - 11.6-percent share in the total Georgia’s turnover. Russia ranked second among main Georgia’s trading partners.
