Georgia's business sector turnover up

The turnover in Georgia’s business sector in the fourth quarter of 2021 increased by 36.6 percent, compared to 32 billion Georgian lari ($9.6 billion) over the same period of 2020, and amounted to 43.8 billion Georgian lari ($13.2 billion), Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The same figure also increased by 8.1 percent, compared to 40.5 billion Georgian lari ($12.2 billion) in the third quarter of 2021.

The production value in the Georgian business sector in the reporting period of 2021 totaled 16.2 billion Georgian lari ($4.9 billion), which is an increase of 30.6 percent, compared to 12.4 billion Georgian lari ($3.7 billion) over the same period of 2020, and 8 percent, compared to 15 billion Georgian lari ($4.5 billion) in the third quarter of 2021.

The volume of the turnover according to the size of the enterprise (fourth quarter of 2021):

Large businesses – 61.2 percent;

Medium businesses – 18.4 percent;

Small businesses – 20.4 percent.

The total production value according to the size of the enterprise (fourth quarter of 2021):

Large businesses – 42.1 percent;

Medium businesses – 27.4 percent;

Small businesses – 30.5 percent.

The total purchase of goods and services carried out by the enterprises in the fourth quarter of 2021totaled 25 billion Georgian lari ($7.5 billion), which is an increase of 38.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2020, while the purchase for goods and services for resale amounted to 15.2 billion Georgian lari ($4.6 billion) – 38.6 percent year-on-year increase.

The average number of employees in the fourth quarter of 2021 amounted to 693,400, which is an increase of 8.1 percent year-on-year. Out of the total number of people employed, 42.7 percent were female and 57.3 percent – male.
