BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The amount of net loans issued by Georgia’s commercial banks in February 2022 totaled 41.2 billion Georgian lari ($12.87 billion), Trend reports via statistical data of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
According to the NBG, the current figure increased by 0.4 percent, compared to 41 billion Georgian lari ($12.81 billion) of loans issued over the same month of 2021, and by 14.4 percent, compared to 36 billion Georgian lari ($11.2 billion) in January 2022.
Meanwhile, the volume of loans to the non-financial sector and households issued by Georgia’s commercial banks in February 2022 increased by 12.5 percent, compared to 38.4 billion Georgian lari ($12 billion) over the same period of 2021, and by 2.6 percent, compared to 42.1 billion Georgian lari ($13.1 billion) in January 2022, and totaled 43.2 billion Georgian lari ($13.5 billion).
Loan loss reserves of Georgia’s commercial banks in the reporting period of 2022 decreased by 16.6 percent, compared to 2.4 billion Georgian lari ($759.6 million) in February 2021, and totaled 2 billion Georgian lari ($630.8 million). However, the same figure slightly increased by 5.2 percent, compared to 1.9 billion Georgian lari ($609.2 million) in January 2022.
