BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. Georgia’s imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from Azerbaijan from January through March 2022 amounted to $33 million, which is an increase of 65 percent, compared to $20 million over the same period of 2021, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of Georgia’s imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from Azerbaijan in the reporting period of 2022 also slightly increased by 0.2 percent, compared to 42.9 million tons over the same period of 2021, and totaled 43 million tons.

However, the amount of Georgia’s petroleum and petroleum oils imports from Azerbaijan in March alone decreased by 64.3 percent, compared to $15.7 million in February 2022, to $5.6 million tons.

Thus, Azerbaijan ranked fifth among the main petroleum and petroleum oils exporters to Georgia from January through March 2022. Romania ($57.5 million), and Bulgaria ($48.2 million), and Russia ($45 million) were the top three.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from January through March 2022 increased by 71.6 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($142.4 million), and totaled $244.5 million.
