The Ministry of Agriculture actively promotes the development of the agricultural sector and in this context implements several programs to support farmers. Among them, one of the most significant is the Preferential Agro-Credit program, which has been in effect in the country since March 27, 2013.

The main objectives of this program are to improve production processes at various stages of agricultural production, from primary production to processing and marketing. It provides long-term and low-cost credit facilities to farmers and entrepreneurs in agriculture.

In addition, since 2015, the Plant the Future program has been operating under the state program Preferential Agro-Credit. Its goal is to support the renewal and expansion of fruit orchards by financing the purchase of seedlings by farmers.

For this purpose, new perennial orchards were created on the territory of Georgia with the area of about 17,600 hectares. The total amount of state funding for this program exceeds 133 million lari (about $51 million).
