(Interfax) - The Georgian authorities have no plans to use the Kodori Gorge to stage an attack on the breakaway province of Abkhazia, Georgian Ambassador to Russia Irakly Chubinishvili told a news conference in Moscow on Friday.

"We will never aim at the territories that are de facto under the control of the Abkhaz authorities," the ambassador said, reports Trend.

An anti-criminal operation is being carried out in Kodori, he said. "The main phase of the operation has already been completed. Nearly all special operations units have been withdrawn. Only police will remain in the Kodori Gorge," Chubinishvili said.
