As of 12 September of 2006 the currency reserves of the National Bank of Georgia constituted $625m. Trend Special Correspondent reports the figure exceeded the last year indicator by 41%.
The existing amount of the currency reserves ensure stable functioning of financial and currency markets of Georgia. After 1995 the lowest level of currency reserves was fixed 1998, when it made up $62m.
Over 8 months of 2006 incomes obtained from international currency reserves amounted to $23.6m, 90.3% more than last year.
