Georgian And Russian Sides Agreed To Hold JCC Session In Tbilisi At End Of September

( Prime-News ) - The Georgian and Russian sides reached an agreement about holding a plenary session of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC) in Tbilisi at the end of September.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation informs about that while commenting about the meeting held between Giorgi Manjgaladze, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Davit Bakradze, State Minister for Conflict Resolution of Georgia, and Gregory Karasin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

According to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the agreement about arrangement of the JCC session in Tbilisi could be deemed as one of the main outcome of the above-mentioned meeting. The Russian side had warned the visiting Georgian officials against attempts to promote the Tbilisi-backed South Ossetian provisional administration headed by Dimitri Sanakoev. The Russian side had once again reiterated its negative attitude towards the attempt of the Georgian side to change the existing Russian-dominated negotiating format.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation had put emphasis on the necessity of signing ceasefire agreement between the sides.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Yuri Popov and Vladimer Chernov, Ambassadors at Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will arrive in Georgia in order to organize consultations with the Georgian side on problematic issues.

According to the Russian stance, all reached agreements, including the last resolution of UN Security Council, ought to be fulfilled in order to restore trust between the Georgian and Abkhazian sides.

Prime-News was told at State Ministry for Conflict Resolution that the Georgian side had once again offered the Russian side involvement in current developments in Tskhinvali region. The Georgian side suggested the Russian side to participate in the work of the State Commission on Determination of Status of South Ossetia.

The Georgian side expressed readiness to continue working in a current format of negotiations, notwithstanding the ineffectiveness of the existing format.

The Georgian side has provided the Russian side with the information regarding the violation of their mandates by the Russian peacekeepers dislocated in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.

The Georgian side expressed concern over suspension of the process of conflict resolution in Abkhazia and non-existence of progress in Georgian-Abkhazian negotiations.

The Georgian side emphasized that the current level of Georgian-Russian relations could not be evaluated as satisfactory and expressed readiness to take corresponding measures for their improvement.
