Qatar urges stopping US' anti-Iran sanctions

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said on Wednesday that the US sanctions should not be extended because they have an adverse impact on countries benefiting from Iranian oil, Trend reports citing IRNA.

'In Qatar, we do not believe unilateral sanctions bring positive effects for crises which must be solved through dialog and dialog only,' he said, Russia today reported.

He maintained that the US decision to end Iran oil waivers will deal a blow to the countries relying on the country’s oil.

The United States has demanded that buyers of Iranian oil stop purchases by May 1 or face the prospect of sanctions, ending six months of waivers that had allowed Iran’s eight biggest customers, most in Asia, to import limited volumes.
