Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 21
By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:
Not a single country in the world can fight terrorism alone, said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, speaking at the TRT World global forum, Trend reports with reference to Turkish media Oct. 21.
Cavusoglu noted that all countries of the world should join forces in order to jointly fight terrorism.
The foreign minister said that the region where Turkey is located has faced the real threat of terrorism and the events in northern Syria are a clear example of this.
“The problem is that some countries, in their own interests, provide indirect support to a number of terrorist organizations,” Cavusoglu added.
The foreign minister also noted that Turkey is actively fighting against terrorism in the region, and for this purpose a number of military operations were carried out, including the Operation Peace Spring.
On Oct. 17, Ankara agreed with Washington to suspend the Operation Peace Spring in Syria's north for 120 hours, so that during this time the YPG/PYD detachments would leave northern Syria.
On Oct. 9, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the beginning of a new military operation in Syria, called "Peace Spring".
